Don’t you think that I could call on my Father, and he would send me more than twelve legions of angels now?

How, then, would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say this must happen?”
Matthew 26:53-54(ISV)

As Winston drove to the station, many thoughts flew in his head. He didn't know what to expect, he didn't know the condition of his wife. Could she have done something so terrible and was locked up in jail because he suspected that she was keeping some worthless friends from highschool who sometimes made her commit offences. He had warned her against keeping such friends but it fell on deaf ears. Could it be that she had killed someone?  Winston didn't know what to expect. He knew his wife had been something else for the past couple of weeks and was ready for the worst.

Getting to the station, he quickly pulled over: packing his car in a hurry. There was no trace of his wife's car as he quickly glanced to check and then hurriedly entered the station. On getting to the reception he bent over the counter with a heavy breath as he was panting. "Good evening, I received a call 10minutes ago asking me to come see her as my wife has been arrested". He was interrupted by an officer who was just beside the reception table. "Sir, are you Mrs Betty's husband?" Winston quickly nodded in the affirmative. Officer Brad led him to his office and made Winston have a seat. "Sir, I am sorry to inform you that your wife was hit by a truck over an hour ago". He continued, "Two of her friends died on the spot but thanks to the truck driver who saw she was still alive and rushed her to the hospital. She is currently receiving treatment but is in a state of coma". As Winston heard those words, he knew he had to be strong and believed she would make it.

Officer Brad led Winston to the Hospital where his wife was attending to treatment. The Doctor who was just about to leave her bed after administering some injections and monitoring her vital signs saw Winston and presumed he was her husband. "Please doctor how is she? " Winston asked. He replied " Well, your wife is in a critical condition, thankfully she is responding and her vitals are fine for she is stable now but she would be bedridden for a couple of months as she's got an incomplete spinal cord fracture. We hope she would be able to walk again. She would need a miracle to make that happen". The doctor finished and excused himself.

I can imagine the thoughts that could be brimming up as you read Winston and Betty's story. Well, Winston was the miracle she needed as he stayed by her all through the time of her recovery not considering the wicked acts she had put forward to him before her accident for he had forgiven her. Helping her to walk again, showing her much love and affection than he had ever showed her, encouraging her to keep hope alive that she would walk again and all sorts marked his disposition. Indeed she walked again. Betty not only realised that her escaping death was not because of her but for the sake of her darling husband who had a heart of gold. She became remorseful for all the wrongs she had done to Winston and turned a new leaf.

Dear friends, true love isn't love that hasn't or won't be tried and tested. Love is meant to have such inconveniences. How do I know? Consider  the opening verse; He surely had all the powers to call millions of angels to his rescue as He was about to be crucified but he chose not to,  because He loved us so dear and needed to settle our redemption. He went through all the pain and shame of the cross just for our justification. Love was shouting out saying, "I rather die to have you than leave without you".

Your current situation might not be exactly like that of Winston and Betty;  it might be a trying time in your marriage be it a misbehaving spouse, or having to have waited for long trying to have a baby, some terrible financial constraints, or seeing no reason to hang onto that marriage. No matter what the case might be, do not forget you chose to be with this person  for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness or in health for that's what true love really is.

Love doesn't give up when faced with dire challenges, it hangs on with hope and faith that any bad circumstance will get better.  Love sees challenges as stepping stones. It doesn't just throw in the towel. Many of the stories of divorce and separation we hear of today won't have been if the parties involved had this understanding of the inconveniences of love. Unfortunately, no one wants to suffer for love's sake just like Jesus did. Perhaps you are not married yet, bear in mind that  the path of true love is filled with ups and downs, so you better know what you are going for.

I leave you with these verses from the Holy Writ which summaries the inconveniences of love. You can always come back to read these words when faced with a challenging situation in your marriage. These words can transform and can change any one as long as they heed to it and see the power therein cause the change.

Love is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly.

Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].

It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.

Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.

Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
