"To be truly fulfilled in life's pursuit is to continually walk in true love." - Bibi
1 Cor. 13:2-3 (BBE)
2 And if I have a prophet's power, and have knowledge of all secret things; and if I have all faith, by which mountains may be moved from their place, but have not love, I am nothing.
3 And if I give all my goods to the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it is of no profit to me.
Have you ever sat back and taken your time to really think of what life is all about? Do you try to consider that how you came about is something you really can't explain? Have you thought about how each new day you see and experience only takes you closer to a time when you will see you are not how you were before, once full of youthful exuberance? Has it ever crossed your mind and left an indelible impression that one day all that you see and touch would be gone? Yes, that's sure going to happen. Everything is vanity, yet everyone of us wants a certain level of gratification in our daily places of work. Everyone is searching for fulfilment in all that concerns them. People are carried away by their endeavours and their pursuits in life. Well, it's okay to have a successful life here and there's nothing wrong with that. But what happens when all this comes to an end? What should we really be eager for? What should we really be living by? What should we really be living for so that after we are gone our lives would speak for us? How do we ensure our legacy remains secure in the sands of time and in the hearts of people?
Walking in true love is the best form of fulfilment one can ever attain. It is the only route to true fulfilment. I will tell you why. It's simply because the earth was founded and created by a God whose nature is love. This same God sent His only Son into the world to rescue mankind from the damnation of their souls and give them everlasting life. All this He did because of true love. This love He showed changed the course of the world forever. True love is the only virtue on earth that is eternal. It is the only thing Christ stressed upon in His ministry. From the perspective of God, love is really what life is about. We were made by a God who is Love. We were made in the image and likeness of Love. Love is at the centre of our being. Little wonder we all crave for it and no one rejects it. So, when next you think of wanting to live a truly successful and fulfilled life, do not think of it as having to do with amassing wealth or fame, or buying properties all over, or being the best at your career, rather understand that fulfilment comes from living a life which is can be described with one word - love.
Take a closer look at the scripture we are focusing on today. In essence it says it is love that makes us amount to something. Without love we are nothing. This is referring to practical love, the love we live out in our lives. No matter how powerful a person is, be it political power, financial power, educational power etc and no matter how gifted he or she is, without love such a person is nothing and nobody. We also see that it is love motivated generosity that holds a reward. People show kindness for several reasons. Some do it to prove a point to onlookers. Others do it to earn favour from God and so forth. God says that acts of kindness won't mean anything to Him and will hold no benefit for the one who is giving except they are done from a heart of love. In summary, the passage says life without love is nothing but miserable. At the end, no matter what we acquired and no matter what we gave out, it all boils down to whether we allowed love dominate in our lives or not. From this day let love rule you and you will never have regret it.
