"Husbands and wives, recognize that in marriage you have become one flesh. If you live for your private pleasure at the expense of your spouse, you are living against yourself and destroying your joy. But if you devote yourself with all your heart to the holy joy of your spouse, you will also be living for your joy and making a marriage after the image of Christ and His church." - John Piper

Phil 2:1-5, :9 (GNT)
1 Your life in Christ makes you strong, and his love comforts you. You have fellowship with the Spirit, and you have kindness and compassion for one another.
2 I urge you, then, to make me completely happy by having the same thoughts, sharing the same love, and being one in soul and mind.
3 Don't do anything from selfish ambition or from a cheap desire to boast, but be humble toward one another, always considering others better than yourselves.
4 And look out for one another's interests, not just for your own.
5 The attitude you should have is the one that Christ Jesus had:
9 For this reason God raised him to the highest place above and gave him the name that is greater than any other name.

How I wish you could just take your time and look into as many translation as possible to really get the heart of what these verses of scriptures mean. Being knit together in one mind and one heart is something that can only become possible through love, God's true love at work in our hearts. Love teaches us to stay humble. Oneness and unity isn't possible without this love. There's so much we can achieve if we'll stay in unity. Unity and oneness is more than holding hands. God even wants us to connect in the way we think. One way to make this possible is when we both use the same rule book, the Bible. If we submit our concepts and ideas to the scrutiny and leadership of God's Word, if we lay them down before the Word of God to approve or disapprove of them before we run with them, we'll discover that gradually but surely, we'll begin to unite in our thoughts.

As we blend into oneness in our relationships, we are encouraged to consider others better than ourselves. Naturally, we want to look out for ourselves. But love says not so. The more self centered we are, the more out of sync with live we are. But when we come into sync with what love really is, we consider leas about ourselves and put other people first. Love is all about sacrifice. It isn't sweet to the natural human feeling and way of doing things but this is the highway for the high fliers in God's sight - sacrifice. The more we learn about love, the more we see that we need to look out for the interests of others.. Think about living a life that isn't about you. Think about living to put others before yourself. This is what Jesus did and this is the attitude of love that we're expected to replicate.

Many people want the best in life, a life filled with good success, riches, prosperity and good health, not for ourselves only but also for our loved ones. Yes, all these are possible but require a level of sacrifice that only true love working in our hearts and put to action in our lives can bring. It's clear as crystal through today's scriptural passages that Christ already showed us the way to go if we want greatness. He used Himself as a scapegoat in order for everyone of us to see how greatness in God's kingdom comes about and so that we can choose His path. It's my prayer that everyone that has read this post will make up their minds to live lives characterized by true love to people around. Let's trust God to help us live lives that put others first This is how not to only bless ourselves but more importantly, we make the earth a haven to live in.
