"Kindness is the life's blood, the elixir of marriage. Kindness makes the difference between passion and caring. Kindness is tenderness. Kindness is love, but perhaps greater than love ... Kindness is good will. Kindness says, 'I want you to be happy.' Kindness comes very close to the benevolence of God." - Randolph Ray
Matthew 5:7 (KJV)
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
I know some of you would have probably heard the story of a young boy who had to sell goods at a tender age just to be able to fend for himself, as he was an orphan and had to do that in order to pay for his schooling. He stumbled on a lady one day who extended a hand of love to him by merely giving him a glass of milk to drink when we was hungry and couldn't buy food. Thinking she would bill him, he asked how much it was going to cost but she told him he didn't have to pay for it because she gave him freely. After several years had passed, the young boy was now a medical doctor and a critically ill old woman was rushed to his hospital. The doctor recognised it was the woman who left an indelible impression on his heart many years back. The woman though had forgotten. The did an operation that saved her life. When she received her bill, she saw written on it, "Paid in full with a glass of milk."
Kindness is one facet of true love. The only thing that comes to mind in describing this is a diamond. A diamond has different reflecting sides. The more you view it from different angles, the more you're caught up in admiration. That diamond is like true love and kindness is one of its shining reflections. Kindness is love put in motion. It's amazing the level of impact we make upon the lives of people by our acts of kindness. We often forget because it has now become second nature to us but those who receive these acts of kindness are usually affected by them in ways we may never really know. Being kind means that you have resolved from inside your heart to be warm in your speech and actions to others, no matter how unpleasant they sometimes may behave toward you. See everyone as that weary young hungry orphan who needs a cold glass of milk on a hot day. See your kindness as that glass of milk that can revive their soul. Offer it for free to them. Be mercy-full. Look on people with a desire to help them. As Jesus said, your acts of kindness are never lost.
We need more of true love in motion around us. The state of the world needs to be improved. Making the world a better place is only possible by putting that true love in your heart into motion. To change the world, God did the exact same thing. He didn't just talk more about love, He sent His love to us. He sent Jesus. Jesus is God in the flesh and God is love. Jesus is Love in motion. God gave motion to His love by coming to us in human form. We can learn a lot here. That ability to be willing to step down from your high horse and relate cheerfully with those on a much lower level, is a vital part of what we're discussing today. The one who truly loves does not feel irritated by those who are far less privileged. Rather, his kindness swings into play as his heart is drawn to them. He forgets his 'class' in the excitement of reaching out to them. A vehicle cannot take you anywhere as long as it's on one spot. It's the same with love. Love is like that vehicle and God has designed that love should take you to that your much desired place in destiny. But this can't happen until you put this vehicle of love in motion through kindness. I see you getting there. Use some more kindness today.
