"The first duty of love is to listen" - Paul Tillich

Heb 3:1(NKJV)
1 Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus.

In Christianity, there's only one person who represents us before God; there's only one High Priest. His name is Jesus Christ. One of the things the Bible shows us about Jesus is that He always listened to those who came to Him with different issues. Till this day He's able to represent us well because He's well acquainted with us and knows every single thing we go through.

The system of confessing sins in the Catholic Church is not the New Testament recommended pattern since all believers are priests and neither of us represents the other before God or has a better standing before God than another. However, there are a few things I want to highlight. Notice that a priest is available to listen to the confessor with patience and love, not with a judgemental voice but rather an attitude that makes the person open up completely.

It would surprise you to know that a lot of relationships and marriages have become cold and have even broken up because one partner wasn't willing to be patient and listen to the other's problems. Most times this affects the women more due to their emotional makeup, they just want to be heard and listened to even if the problem doesn't get solved.

The ability to patiently listen to a matter brought by anyone that wants to be heard, is a demonstration of love. Without even saying a word, listening reduces the problem to half its size. Make deliberate efforts today to listen more.

Keep Loving,Keep Living............LOVE ISSUES.
