Beware you be not swallowed up in the books! An ounce of love is worth a pound of knowledge" - John Wesley
1 Cor 8:1b (AMP)
Yet mere] knowledge causes people to be puffed up (to bear themselves loftily and be proud), but love (affection and goodwill and benevolence) edifies and builds up and encourages one to grow [to his full stature).
Just a little bit of comparison here to drive down the meaning of today's opening quote. An ounce is a little weight which is approximately one sixteenth of a pound. In other words, John Wesley is saying if love and knowledge are two cupcakes, when you divide a cupcake of love into 16 equal pieces what you get as one part is as good and weighs as much as the other cupcake. That's the superiority of love over knowledge.
In my own mind, I began to reason some years ago and consider what good, love that is left to nurture and grow in the heart of a man would do to the sum total of that man compared to what knowledge would. Then the answer hit me when the Spirit of God dropped the opening verse into my heart and it has never left me. As a matter of fact, it's one of the back bones of what I'm about.
Its simple: knowledge is good in whatever capacity and in whatever aspect, go for it but I believe and know that love is better in all ramifications and all measures. Do not only go for it but pursue it. Your life will be like where the blessings of the Lord is commanded; you'll enjoy life for evermore.
Keep Loving,Keep Living.........LOVE ISSUES.
