"Love is a decision, it is a judgement, it is a promise. If love were only a feeling, there would be no basis for the promise to love each other forever. A feeling comes and it may go. How can I judge that it will stay forever, when my act does not involve judgement and decision." - Erich Fromm
Titus 2:4-5 (KJV)
4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Has it ever crossed your mind that the ability to teach and inculcate something to someone or a group of people has helped the world get to its topmost heights today? I say this because without the importance of teachers most of the giant strides we see today in almost every aspect of life such as technology, business, telecommunications and entertainment would not have been. If there was no one to teach the next generation, we would have lost a lot of progress. Continuation and advancement is only possible because of the role of transferring knowledge via teaching. Even scriptures have to be taught from one generation to another.
And so we see from the opening verse that Paul admonishes the older women to train and teach the younger women how to love and respect their husbands, majorly so that the sound doctrines that would yield the best of happy results in homes/marriages would be conspicuously abundant and available for all to take advantage of. This is what I do with Love Issues, to teach from the reliable source of the Word of God that has stood the test of time and still is, helping people to come to the knowledge and understanding of what true love is. If they want to experience it in their lives, relationships, marriages etc, then they would have to subscribe to its origin and believe in its teaching.
I know I have said this in several ways in different posts but it still needs to be said: True love is not merely a set of feelings. Thank God for feelings, they are very helpful and wonderful but true love is an act of the will. It's not love at first sight but love from knowledge. Truth is, what people often call love at first sight is better called what it really is - lust at first sight. Love is not like a seizure that hits you totally uninvited, unplanned for and unexpected. The love that keeps people together and builds homes is something born out of the will, a commitment that one makes to stay faithful to another person. Love is a promise. This is why we do not look to draw the inspiration to love from how we're feeling because there may be certain times when we will not feel like loving. Dear friend, as you keep doing the good work of loving people today, refuse to let anything discourage you.
Keep Loving, Keep Living..........LOVE ISSUES.
