"When you think of it, really there are four fundamental questions of life. You've asked them, I've asked them, every thinking person asks them. They boil down to this; origin, meaning, morality and destiny. 'How did I come into being? What brings life meaning? How do I know right from wrong? Where am I headed after I die?'" - Ravi Zacharias
Acts 17:28 (KJV)
For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
Everyone living or dead who has thought about this life has asked the questions the author of today's quote lists. We want to know where we came from. That's a natural question in everyone. How did I come about? From where did I come? How did I get here? Those are all questions bothering on origin. We also want to have a sense of meaning in this life. What should I be doing? How best can I invest my life? What's going to help me make the most of my life? What am I here for? These are questions of meaning. Then, we all know intuitively that there's a difference between right and wring. Sometimes we get them mixed up but we know some things are right and others are not. On the inside of us we want to know how to do right. There's that inward craving in everyone. We may fail at doing right but we know we should be doing righht. How to go about doing right is the question of morality. Finally, we all know somehow that there's a hereafter, an existence beyond this life. It all doesn't end here. The Bible says God has placed eternity in our hearts. We know life on earth is just a phase and very quietly that question of destiny pounds in our hearts, where am I going?
I believe love has all the answers to these vital four question of life. Or let me put it this way, love is the answer to all these questions. Love answers the question of origin. Love answers the question of meaning. Love answers the question of morality and the question of destiny. Speaking of origin, our Bible text today shows us we came out of God. An offspring is something or someone that cane out of another thing/person. We are God's offspring. That means we came out of God. God created us. The account of creation in Genesis tells us that after God formed man's body from the ground, He breathed the spirit of man He had created into the body he formed. Our bodies came from the ground but our spirits came from God. We came out of God and because God is love we know we came out of love. Now to meaning, nothing gives meaning like spending our lives loving God and loving people. It is in love we see the beauty of life.
It is very easy to know what is right from what is wrong. Love is what is right. Anything that is against the ethics of love cannot be right. We do not struggle to know what God would have us do because we know He would have us love. His will is no longer a mystery. His will has been shown clearly to us; His will is love. We now know what morality means. As long as we walk in the kind of love God teaches, we are morally upright. Love will tell us what to do and what not to do. Love will keep us in the right path. Now to the question about destiny. We are no longer confused about where we re headed. The highway of love takes us home to the One out of whom we cane in the first place. Our eternal destination is secured in love. We re not in doubt about this. We speak very boldly because live has given us answers to the questions that trouble others.
Keep Loving, Keep Living............LOVE ISSUES
