Have you ever taken out time to really think deep, wondering and asking yourself questions of how life came about? Have you thought about how you were chosen to be where you are now? What really makes life what it is? Have you asked yourself how generations have lived before you, how they've come and gone? Have you been able to know the things that really matter in life? I know how those thoughts can be because there's not a single rational human being alive who hasn't had those thoughts at one time or the other in their minds. Some have taken these questions and gone in search of answers in many different directions but instead of finding solutions, things have become more compounded for them. We all need to realise that the answers to our questions lie in the reality of God's Word. We find this in the words Christ placed preference on.

The word commandment was used quite a number of times in the Old Testament days of the law and the prophets. It was used to connote a very important instruction that should be carried out and if it wasn't, the defaulter was seen to have disobeyed the Source of the commandment and that was a grave error with consequences. So, the people idolized the commandments and gave preference to them. Rather than seeking a true relationship with the One who had given the commandments, they were occupied with wanting to follow the commandments to the letter and impress God with their ability to comply perfectly. The collection of all such commandments was the Law. But having man occupied with dos and don'ts was never God's desire for man. He wanted man to receive and express love. Hence, Jesus Christ came, to show us God's true intention. He did this by emphasizing the life of true love.

God is love. No hater will be with God in eternity. Love is what really matters to God. It was the heartbeat of the law and the commandments. But the people failed to see it. Many people have no regard for people but they claim to love God. That's not possible. The proof that we love God is our love for people. Believing in Jesus means trusting Jesus. We show that we trust Him by doing what He said - living a life of love. So, let's quit playing church, religion and stuff. Let's make a difference, a positive difference in the world today, knowing fully well love is the gateway that transcends one from the shores of this earth to life eternal.
