"I have thought of many ways to explain true love and only one thing keeps coming to my mind - continuous forgiveness." - Bibi
Luke 7:47 (ISV)
So I’m telling you that her sins, as many as they are, have been forgiven, and that’s why she has shown such great love. But the one to whom little is forgiven loves little.”
I sat down to think about the essence of what we now call Easter and I had nothing else in my mind other than love. Easter is a time of the year when the followers of Christ and most part of the world remember how Christ Jesus, the only begotten Son of the almighty God who came in the form of man, died and rose again to bring redemption to the world. To some it might not make sense when they look at it, no matter how well you present it to them. But to others, it's what has turned their lives around for the better. Take a close look at why this is so. Your whole world was crashing so bad that there was no hope for it to get better. You were completely hopeless. There was nothing you and anyone else could do to save you. You were doomed because of all the many lies you had told, the secret sins you had indulged yourself in and all the bad stuff you knew you had done. Then you encountered the preaching of the cross, the sacrifice of Jesus imparted your spirit, you believed He did it specifically for you and suddenly, all your wrong deeds were wiped away completely. His blood swung into action and gave you a new slate like nothing ever happened before. You became brand new because someone took upon Himself your identity; He took your place and paid your debt and purged your guilt. As if that isn't enough, He is always ready to forgive you if you fall short. Amazing, isn't it?
Nothing defines love like what Jesus did on the cross. Love is what we see in the person of Jesus Christ. In love there is a continuous willingness to forgive anyone and everyone, no matter what the grievance is. Love is so vital in our dealings in life but the enemy has made people believe that when you walk in love you're a weakling. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Those who choose to let go of their own lives for the sake of love are the truly strong people. The woman we see in today's text was impacted by the realization of God's incredible forgiveness offered in the person of Jesus. This awareness shook her to her very foundation and broke her. It exploded in her heart and released torrents of gratitude. She knew her sins indeed were many and could not sufficiently express how thankful she was to Jesus for showing her mercy. She wept at His feet. She anointed and kissed His feet. She saw the God in Him that others were too blind to see. What made all this impact in her? From the little analogy Jesus gave before the statement He made in today's focal verse, we know that this woman was brought to this point by the fact that she saw the magnitude of forgiveness in Jesus for her. She had received this forgiveness by faith and came to demonstrate her gratitude to the master.
We love Him because He first loved us. We abandon our lives to the culture of love because He did it first in loving us. Nothing we do out of love today can be better than what He has done and what He keeps doing. His wonderful mercy and grace thrills our beings. Hence, we pattern our lives after Him. That's the message of the Cross, that Christ didn't give us what we deserved. He reaped our suffering, the harvest of the sins we sowed. In His mercy He didn't allow us reap what we sowed. He gave us a clean slate, a brand new life to be happy and have peace in our hearts. This is the portion of all those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ to save them and who keep trusting the cleansing power of His blood. Allow these truths impact your spirit the same way the provision of forgiveness in Jesus impacted that lady's heart. Roll these truth over and over again in your mind until something about you begins to change. It's my prayer that people would come to embrace His ever flowing love towards us and choose to live for him by showing this same kind of love to others.
Keep Loving, Keep Living.........................LOVE ISSUES
