I want to share with you a few necessary things you should know.

Ecclesiastes 7:16-17
16 Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself?
17 Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?

God stands for righteousness but when things go out of balance, He warns against extremes. Amazing!

Some people get to the extreme even in matters of righteousness. God, through Solomon, warns against that.

I have heard people say Christmas has a pagan origin and that  December 25th wasn't the day Jesus was born, therefore Christians should have nothing to do with Christmas.

Who cares if it's the exact date? Look, you're missing the point. I really don't have the time to analyse all the arguments but let me just give a piece of advice.

Here's it:  Never exalt the letter above the spirit. Even God focuses on the heart, not on the outward appearance.

These people who denounce Christmas forget the spirit of the day is to get the whole world to consider and focus on the glorious entrance of the Saviour of mankind into the realm of humanity.

They leave the spirit and pitch a tent over the letter. How sad. But these same people fail to see that many other things have a pagan origin.

For example, do you know Sunday was named after the sun god? Do you know Monday was named after the moon goddess?

Every day of the week had its name originate from a pagan basis. Thursday was named after the Norse god Thor. Only Saturday was named from Saturn.

It's amazing that none of these over righteous people who kick against Christmas have attempted to kick against the names of the days of the week and not use them because they have a pagan origin.

Look friends, do not be over righteous. Why destroy yourself? From the passage above you'll observe that being over righteous and being excessively wicked almost have the same end.

The former leads to self destruction. The latter makes one die before their time. Which is better? Neither. One is as worse as the other,

So, here's my submission: Celebrate Jesus everyday and since the world accepts Christmas day as the day to acknowledge His birth, mark it that day too (be all things to all men so you can win some) and cease the opportunity to reveal Him more to the world.

There's so much to say but the wise hear a lot in a few words. I hope this  has helped someone.

Merry Christmas.

Candidly,
ogbonnayaEMMANUEL
