The great thing to remember is that though our feelings come and go, God’s love for us does not." - C.S. Lewis
Heb. 13:8
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
As I think about the significance of today around the world I cannot but wonder at the quality of God's love for us. God looked at us and in His love He chose to draw near, publicly identify with us, taking upon Himself our shame. He did all this not because we cared about Him at the time but because He cared about us too much not to show it. What kind of love is this that started running after us when we least deserved it? What kind of love is this that does not give up on us? It staggers my imagination, dazzles my sense of reasoning to think of God having what's even greater than a crush on us. We cannot see the love of God for us and not be affected by it. Truly nothing can fuel our love for God and for others like focusing on the wondrous love of God demonstrated in Christ for us.
Our scripture focus today is on the fact that God's love is a constant. The nature of God's love follows the character of God. God is constant, men are not. If all our confidence lies in people's love for us, we can be heart broken the day we learn that something has changed in the way they feel about us. But trusting in God's love never leaves us stranded because He's never going to change the way He feels about us. A minister once said God does not love us because we are lovely or lovable but because He is love. Today as we remember the death of Christ on the cross, I encourage you to rely upon and trust in His love for you more than you do anything else in the world. Keep your heart fixed on His love for you that will never change.
What happens to us when we stay focused on God's love for us? Among other things, our confidence rises because it suddenly dawns on us that we're in God's good book. As a result we can treat others kindly and tenderly without waiting to draw inspiration from their love for us first. God's love for us is an endless fountain and as God supplies His love in our hearts we can keep loving others. In this Easter period remember that it was the love of God that made Him give us Jesus. The love that sent Jesus to the cross(the symbol of true love) has not given up on you, so, do not give up yet on your partner, your spouse, your family, your friend(s) etc. If you have loved them yesterday, you can also love them today and trust God to help you love them tomorrow.
Keep Loving, Keep living........LOVE ISSUES
