It is said that too much of anything in life is bad and I totally agree. Moderation is very important in everything. There's one thing however that can never be in excess. That thing is God's love. Let me refresh our memory a bit on what true love is for I delight in doing that. A line of pharmaceutical products in my country uses a brand statement to enhance the sales of their products. This statement is so unique to them than whenever or where ever this statement is mentioned, everyone can tell what brand it is just from the sound of the advert. It's no doubt that this company wields great influence in the market place. Some fakes have tried to come up but the real products are still flying. My point is, when ever the originality of a brand is persevered, no matter how much of its counterfeit gets to the market, it doesn't take away the real deal. It's the same thing with true love. A lot of its imitations have gone out claiming to be the real deal. Many have been deceived to even believe that the fickle romantic love is true love but I believe you know this is not true. For those who still reason that way, a lot needs to be understood.

Love is not an abstract idea neither is it merely a feeling you feel. Love is better understood when it is seen as an action because it's more of a verb than it is a noun or an adjective. Love is something you do. The Bible tells us that love is patient, kind, humble, not easily angered and so on. Remember the Bible says God is love. This simply means God is patient, kind, is not selfish, is not boastful, does not rejoice in evil etc. This is the nature of the God we serve. This is who He is. God makes His sun to shine on the wicked and the good because He is a God of love. His love is constant. His patience, kindness, selflessness etc, are unchanging. Until the end of time on this earth, God will always be willing to receive anyone and to show them His love. As we show people love, let's remember the kind of love God shows us. His love is constant. His love does not fluctuate. It's an irrevocable love. It's okay to copy and paste God's kind of love.

Finally, let me say that God's kind of love reassures the one who is being loved. In today's focal verse of scripture, we see God talking about His kind of love. We should learn to talk this way too. Anyone being loved needs to hear from time to time that the love they are receiving is a solid love that will never cease. Words like these do something in the hearts of those who hear them. Words like this strengthen the confidence of the hearer and gives them a kind of joy they cannot describe. Let's learn to talk the way God does. Let's reassure people as God does. In your marriage and relationship talk this way rather than speaking about how that the relationship may end if care is not taken. Don't issue threats, reassure in stead. May God help us become and remain this way in our thoughts and words. May God help us take these truths we have shared today and apply them in our relationships, marriages and homes.
