"I give you a new commandment – to love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. Everyone will know by this that you are my disciples – if you have love for one another.” - Jesus Christ.
1 John 3:18 (NET)
Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue but in deed and truth.
When computers came people said it would transform the world. The computer age at a time was what many thought would make a huge difference in the world. But then, the internet rolled in. Many people began to talk about the internet age. Today almost any information can be gotten online. The internet was someone's idea. Now it's not just an idea anymore. Today we have the internet because some people took the potentials of the computer and practically applied them to give us the internet. Theories are useless except we practically apply them. Most of the advancements in technology today are here because people practically applied theories. All electronics engineering students are taught the same theoretical formula on how to make electronic devices but only those who are able to use these theories practically become successful in producing an electronic device.
In the same way, true love only makes a whole lot of sense when it is put into practice. Intentions are good but true love is not merely the intention that lingers in your heart to do something good to/for someone. It's the action that is produced when such intentions are not just thought and not just said but done. True love takes responsibility for what many would naturally leave out. It does not follow the crowd. It is a doer. True love acts first and does not wait for its effort to be reciprocated before it acts again. True love is sacrificial. It is always ready to give much more than it gets. It does not condemn others or advertise people's faults and shortcomings. When true love sees things that need to be corrected, it doesn't ignore it and wait for someone else to do it. No, true love will take a step to do something about it. True live is gentle. It won't push but rather waits patiently, no matter how long.
Until we all leave our comfort zones and truly let love be expressed in its highest form, our loved ones, spouses/partners and neighbours would not be empowered to extend the same to us and others around them. Instead of complaining that we are not being loved, let's love those who aren't loving us. Keep loving them. Let's show them what love is and how to love. Let's keep loving them until they understand what we're teaching them, not with our words but with our lives. We'll know they have understood it when they also begin to love as we have been doing. My friend, do not grow weary of showing love. Continue even more fervently. Today's Bible text instructs us to love with actions and with genuineness. So, let's take the words of our Saviour in today's quote and practically live them. Love is practical.
Keep Loving, Keep Living.................LOVE ISSUES
